The legend of Putri Pukes and Danau Laut Tawar

Once on the land of Gayo, there is a beautiful daughter, the son of a king named Putri Pukes. This beautiful princess likes a prince from another kingdom. Initially, the parents of the Pukes daughter did not approve it, because the origin of this prince who lived far from the residence of the princess. However, thanks to the perseverance of the princess Pukes and the prince, finally the parents of the pukes daughter blessed their relationship so that in the end they were married by the king.

After marriage, the time has come for the princess to follow her husband. Princess Pukes said goodbye to her parents to go to her husband's kingdom. Of course the two parents of the princess were overcome with sadness, but they had to let go of the child away.

"Go, kid, with the guards. However, one thing you must guard, once stepping out of this kingdom, do not even look back ", ordered his parents.

Princess Pukes departed with her bodyguards. In the middle of the road, he always remembered his parents and missed them very much. Because he was too sad, he accidentally looked back.

Suddenly, lightning struck and heavy rain. Princess Pukes and her entourage took shelter in a cave. In the cave, Putri Pukes stood in the corner of the cave to warm her cold body. Slowly, the princess felt her body harden. Princess Pukes was very surprised and cried. Apparently his body became stone. He was sorry for not heeding the message of his parents. Supposedly, he did not look back during the trip as ordered by his parents.

After feeling long enough to rest and the rain began to subside, they intended to continue the journey. His bodyguards also called the Princess. "Princess ! The rain has subsided, let's continue the journey! "Called his bodyguards. Many times they called, but there was still no answer.

The guards of the princess went to the place where Princess Pukes stood. They kept calling, but the Princess remained silent. When I saw clearly, the guards were very surprised because the daughter's body had hardened and become stone.

Until now, Putri Pukes stone can still be seen. The shape is enlarged at the bottom, but the shape of the bun and the head of the princess can still be recognized. According to local residents' trust, the stone grew below because Princess Pukes continued to cry which caused her tears to pile up below.

Meanwhile, because of the very heavy rain, lakes formed in the region. Residents around mentioned the lake by the name "Laut Laut Tawar"
